I have always been passionate about music and inspired by my teachers. While studying Music at the University of Chichester, I developed a particular interest in instrumental and vocal teaching, as well as performance. During my time there, I performed with a range of ensembles, including the Contemporary Music Group and the University Orchestra.
Since graduating fourteen years ago, I have worked in a variety of schools across Norfolk, including Hethersett Old Hall School, Town Close Preparatory School, Notre Dame Prep School, and several others. In these roles, I have been actively involved in leading extra-curricular music groups. I am proud to have maintained a 100% pass rate for ABRSM examinations, and several of my students have gone on to receive music scholarships.
At North Walsham High School, I ran a series of workshops introducing young children to music from around the world. At Hethersett, I directed a number of ensembles, including the school orchestra and various wind bands. I currently teach at Town Close School, Northgate High School and Downham Market Academy.
As a performer, I played saxophone with the Bournemouth Student Big Band, touring France, Belgium, and Spain. I have performed flute and piccolo in several concerts with the Mozart Orchestra in Norwich, and served as principal flute with both the Imperial Vienna Orchestra and St Gregory's Orchestra. I currently hold the position of principal flute with the Sillars Orchestra and perform regularly with a number of smaller ensembles. Additionally, I have taken part in several musical theatre productions in Norwich, including West Side Story, Little Shop of Horrors, and Singin’ in the Rain.
